Play calling options

Is there a way like in 09 to call plays from playtype instead of formation (like outside run, inside run, short pass, deep pass, blitz, etc)?|||

I think you have to select "intermediate" play calling options. not 100% bc I use advanced.|||Doing that I only found some....was broken down to general run/pass.....not like 09 had.
THanks though.|||

It still sounds like Intermediate play calling is what you're looking for. The top level is broken up into Run, Pass and Special Teams. Selecting run will show you plays to run left, run middle, run right and selecting pass will get pass deep, pass middle and pass short. On defense it's broken up the same way except you have inside run defense, outside run defense and blitz...same with passing...deep, middle, blitz.|||Can I call a screen play from intermediate? I can't seem to find them and the play type screen had some good ones last year.|||

It sure did. Looks like when they implemented the advanced feature, EA took that crutch away from us. But I do like the playbooks. They remind me of Madden 04 (I think) on ps/2.

I'm really glad they dumbed it down as well. I used to feel so intimidated.|||

Hi Yuri....no the Intermediate play calling isn't exactly what I was looking for. Remember in 09 where you could go with play options, say choosing blitz, and it would give you all the blitz by name? Is that in 10 anywhere? Or do I finally after how many years need to learn what plays are in what formations? (BLEH)|||Yep I agree - I think the Intermediate play calling is far too basic (also with the play names missing I have to try and determine from the 'lines' which play I want or not - which is made harder and the diagrams are really small this year) but the Advanced far too hard - for me this is the biggest let down of Madden 10. I spend my entire time breaching the play clock as I am unable to find the play I want via the Advanced method. Also anoyed by the lack of fake snaps etc. and the change in the pre-snap movements and audible calling - the latter also causes me to breach the play clock a lot.... almost at the stage where I will bin 10 and go back to 9|||Agreed|||

Sorry wamphryi...looks like you're going to have to graduate to Advanced and learn those playbooks.|||Yuri...since it seems there are others who agree on this.....any chance you or someone would be willing to post a graphical view of all playbooks (just like we see when using advanced where it has the formation/subformation/and all plays view with names) that we could download and print for reference? Post it by team/playbook so I can download them all or just the teams I want to use, print the playbook off, then that will let me view/organize my plays.
Thanks|||

why dont u practice them unranked or offline?(they have practice mode)|||I have been...but after not using these options for so long and being used to the old play calling style I keep losing the plays I want to call. I even had to turn off the play clock feature because I was constantly getting delay of game. I just think it would be helpful to people such as myself to have something I can look at, print off, highlight/circle/make notes to learn the game/plays better. I know I want to do a run to the right but trying to find the play where in 09 i could just choose that option has been combursome and taken some of the fun out of it. Short of trying to draw the play myself on a notepad this seems like something nice for those like me who just are not as familiar with formations and what plays are under each formation for each team.|||

That's where they get you to buy the strategy guide. It's usually in there and if you're willing to drop $15 on it it can be helpful, but make sure it's got what you want and it's got it for Wii if that's the path you choose.
